Areas Of Practice

Candace Padgett’s areas of practice include insurance defense, insurance coverage, insurer bad faith, employment litigation defense and prevention, director and officer liability, condominium and homeowners’ association disputes, and appeals.

Candace has over 15 years of experience in the legal industry, starting as a legal secretary for a local auto insurance defense firm. While in law school, Candace served as the president of the Moot Court Honor Board and competed in several national moot court competitions. She also earned a certificate in legal research and writing. After law school, Candace continued to work in insurance defense. She also focused her practice on appeals and employment-related litigation.

Candace continues to focus her practice on appeals and representing private and governmental employers in the defense of claims of violation of civil rights, discrimination, employment torts and contracts, and other employment-related issues.

In addition to defending her clients in litigation, Candace often provides guidance and legal advice to employers regarding employment-related issues such as problem prevention, workplace training, adverse employment actions, and developing or revising employee handbooks and policies.

Candace represents businesses, hotels, restaurants, and other organizations open to the public in civil rights claims including claims made under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act regarding disability accessibility. She also represents and defends condominium and homeowners’ associations in litigation involving covenant enforcement, fair housing discrimination, director and officer liability, breach of fiduciary duty, and ADA matters.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Candace is an avid angler and often competes in kayak fishing tournaments with her husband. She is also a proponent of the Oxford comma.
