Areas Of Practice
Joseph “Joe” Burns is an associate at Boyd & Jenerette, P.A., practicing remotely from Tallahassee. Joe focuses his practice on auto glass litigation.
Joe left his home in Chicago, IL to serve in the U.S. Air Force as an aerial gunner in 2008 and was stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL near Fort Walton Beach. After five deployments and 212 missions, he retired from service in 2015. He returned to school and completed his bachelor’s degree in 2016 and his juris doctorate in 2019.
While in law school, Joe earned A’s in his Legal Writing and Contracts classes, served as a teaching assistant in Legal Writing, and as Article and Notes Editor for the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law for the Fall 2018 issue.
Completing law school one semester early, Joe then clerked for the Honorable Rachel Nordby at the Florida First District Court of Appeal. There, he performed thorough analyses of specific personal jurisdiction over foreign entities, procedure in Engle progeny cases, and procedural due process which led to reversals of trial court rulings. He also assessed numerous criminal and family case issues.
In his free time, he enjoys long distance running, crossfit, and playing chess and baseball with his kids.
