Appellate Team Obtains a Writ of Certiorari

Kansas R. Gooden and Geneva R. Fountain obtained a writ of certiorari on behalf of a client.  The county court refused to order appraisal when it was mandated by the insurance policy.  The trial counsel had presented binding case from a District Court of Appeal.  However, the county court refused to apply the case law and stated that it was not required to follow it.  The Boyd & Jenerette Appellate Team filed an immediate petition for writ of certiorari to the circuit court sitting in its appellate capacity.  The circuit […]

Another Slip & Fall Defense Win for a Boyd & Jenerette Client

Partner Edward M. Booth, Jr. and associate Courtney M. In the recent case of Zenith Ins. Co. v. Cruz, No. 1D19-1141, 2020 (1st DCA Feb. 12, 2020), the First DCA clarified that the Rule 60Q-6.109, concerning computation of time, does not extend the 30-day period for avoiding fee attachment to the “next regular working day” if the 30th day falls on a weekend or holiday.
