February 5, 2020 by on News

Attorney Kimberly Woods will be speaking at the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Bench & Bar Conference, which is being held on Wednesday, February 26 from noon to 5:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.

“Pre-Trial Best Practices & Pitfalls” is the topic for Kimberly’s panel. Other panelists include Judge Tyrie Boyer, Judge Robert Dees, and Raymond (Ray) Reid, an attorney with Pajcic & Pajcic. Kasey Wagner of The Lawrence Law Group will serve as moderator.

Attendees will learn about pretrial practice generally, as well as conforming to pre-trial orders in regard to discovery and expert witness disclosures. The panel will also discuss the importance of getting a case set for trial as quickly as possible after filing, and then carefully abiding by the requirements of the trial order.

Panel members will offer tips on how to move a case along, such as propounding discovery early, making sure to follow up quickly on a party's failure to respond or provide full responses and documents, requesting depositions early and getting those completed, etc. Judges and other speakers will explain the importance of not waiting until 60 days before trial to work up the case.

Finally, participants will gain insights on how to funnel down the issues for trial via stipulations and effective motions.

This will be Break-Out Session #2 in the Civil Litigation track, from 3:10 to 4:00 p.m.
