Boyd & Jenerette attorneys Meghan Bradley, Mark Eckels, and Blake Hood attended the 2019 Signal Maritime Conference that was held on May 20-22 in Memphis, TN. The theme for this year’s conference was “Maintaining a Resilient Maritime Industry in the 21st Century! Dealing with the Challenges of an Aging Workforce.”

Attendees learned about common concerns that arise when dealing with an increasingly older workforce, including post-retirement claims and vocational rehabilitation plans designed to meet the needs of older workers.

Other topics covered in the Signal Maritime Conference included:

Dept. of Labor electronic claims reporting procedures

Cross-jurisdictional issues that determine the difference between a Seaman and a Longshoreman

Perils and pitfalls of third-party claims and Section 33 (g) liens

Best practices for safety on the waterfront

Employee exposure to toxic chemicals

Contact one of the Boyd & Jenerette Workers’ Compensation attorneys to discuss a potential claim in any of these areas. Here is a photo below which was taken during the conference.
