Nicholas Smith is an associate attorney with Boyd and Jenerette, working remotely in South Florida. Nicholas began his legal career in Texas, where he was an Assistant District Attorney for the Matagorda County District Attorney’s Office. While working in Matagorda County, Nicholas prosecuted misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony offenses. After obtaining extensive litigation experience as an Assistant District Attorney, Nicholas became an Assistant Public Defender for the Harris County Public Defender’s Office in Houston, Texas. In 2021, Nicolas moved to Florida and worked at a small boutique firm in downtown Miami, handling commercial litigation claims, contract disputes, and some family law matters. He later transitioned to the first-party property insurance sector, initially representing insureds with property disputes, and eventually working in-house for an insurance company, defending various property claims through all stages of litigation.
Nicholas received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Florida in 2010, his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in 2014 and has been practicing consistently since 2014, when he was admitted to the Texas Bar. In his spare time, he enjoys taking care of and training his two dogs, experimenting, and practicing new recipes to cook, and baking various cookies, cakes, tarts, breads, and other delicious treats. He currently lives in Doral Florida where he can always be found enjoying the beautiful weather and spending time with family.
