Boyd & Jenerette handles aviation-related legal matters including litigation regarding the use, operation, maintenance, sale and ownership of aircraft. The attorneys at Boyd & Jenerette also offer representation for clients in all aspects of the aviation law involving aircraft transactions, airport land use and regulatory matters. We also represent corporate flight departments and pilots charged with regulatory violations by the Federal Aviation Administration. We are also equipped to advise on legal matters regarding the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) as well as issues regarding space law.
The aviation law practice group is chaired by Partner Edward M. Booth, Jr. who was the first attorney in Florida to become board certified in aviation law by the Florida Bar. Mr. Booth is also a member of the Florida Bar’s Aviation Law Committee. He has served as President of the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association, an international organization of lawyers who are also licensed pilots.
With over 35 years of experience, Mr. Booth has represented clients in a wide range of aviation law claims in litigation and before administrative agencies. He defends insurance carriers, insureds, aircraft owners and operators, repair stations and airport authorities. Mr. Booth’s practice includes representation of clients before the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Mr. Booth is an experienced pilot with over 3,600 hours of flight experience. He holds a multi-engine air transport license issued by the Federal Aviation Administration. He owns and operates a small aircraft that allows him to rapidly and efficiently respond to the needs of his clients. He also holds a remote pilot certificate authorizing him to operate unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for commercial purposes.
Mr. Booth is a former member of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA). The JAA operates four civilian airports in the Jacksonville, Florida area having a combined annual budget of nearly $100,000,000.00. He is uniquely qualified to assist clients in dealing with legal issues related to airport operations.
Under the leadership of Mr. Booth, the firm has substantial knowledge of relevant statutes and aviation regulations. The firm is also able to defend aviation legal disputes incorporating elements of mass tort, products liability, professional liability or property damage claims.
