Cynthia Mitchell is a senior associate Attorney in Boyd & Jenerette’s Jacksonville office. Her practice focuses primarily on insurance defense, including pre-suit advisement and consultation on claims handling, complex coverage issues, examinations under oath, insurer bad faith and extra-contractual liability matters, and litigation on behalf of carriers in state and federal courts throughout Florida.
Ms. Mitchell has extensive experience representing insurers in complex first-party property matters involving hurricane-related losses, water damage, plumbing failures, and disputed causation and coverage issues. She routinely prepares coverage opinions, evaluates and responds to Civil Remedy Notices, advises clients concerning potential extra-contractual exposure, and litigates breach of contract and declaratory judgment actions. She also assists insurers operating outside of Florida with handling and responding to claims arising within Florida.
Prior to joining Boyd & Jenerette, Ms. Mitchell practiced insurance defense and coverage litigation in Florida with a focus on first-party property matters. Earlier in her career, she operated her own law firm focused on civil rights and consumer protection matters, including disability and employment discrimination claims.
Outside of her practice, Ms. Mitchell enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her pets.
