Boyd & Jenerette’s Liability Department’s Recent Trial Outcome
May 2, 2016 by boydjenerette on News
Recently, Shareholder, Robert E. Schrader, III, Esquire, defended a local small business in a lawsuit involving a motor vehicle accident that occurred when our clients’ company vehicle backed into Plaintiff’s motorcycle. Plaintiff alleged injuries to his knee and shoulder, and underwent 3 subsequent surgeries. The 5-day trial was held at the Duval County Courthouse.
Plaintiff requested the jury to award $2-3 million dollars, and the Defense suggested a figure between $40,000-75,000 for past economic and non-economic damages only. The jury was clearly compelled by the Defense’s case, and returned a verdict of $65,000; $45,000 for past economic damages and $25,000 for past non-economic damages.
