Again this year, the Firm will sponsor the Jim Moran Classic on November 9 & 10th in Orlando. The golf and tennis event is the main fund raiser for the Youth Automotive Training Center supporting its mission to provide technical and academic training to at-risk youth.

Shareholder Mark Eckels and Partner Linda Farrell are currently serving as co-chairs of the local chapter of the Friends of 440, a statewide charity set up by workers’ compensation practitioners. The charity raises money to provide scholarships to children of those individuals who are involved in the Florida workers’ compensation system, either by working in the system or being the recipient of such benefits. In August of 2007, the charter on a new American Inn of Court was granted, forming an Inn devoted to workers’ compensation. The Inn, named in memory of former Boyd & Jenerette, P.A. partner E. Robert Williams, becomes one of just two Inns throughout the country devoted to preserving high ideals in the practice of workers’ compensation. The E. Robert Williams Inn of Court held their inaugural banquet on June 6, 2007. The chapter was named after Williams because he “exemplified characteristics synonymous with the highest ethical and professional standards of our field” said President Jake Schickel. The Defense Research Institute hosted an Insurance Bad Faith seminar in Washington, D.C. which was sponsored in part by the firm and attended by shareholder Kristen M. Van der Linde.
