Boyd & Jenerette is pleased to welcome Associate Attorneys Ian Waldick, Kelly Gillis, and Kelly Kay.
Ian Waldick is an Associate Attorney with Boyd & Jenerette, P.A., practicing remotely from Tallahassee. Before joining the firm, Ian served as a Senior Central Staff Attorney for the Florida Supreme Court and briefly practiced administrative law in Tallahassee.
Ian graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University College of Law in 2016. While in law school, he served as Executive Article Selection Editor for volume 43 of the Florida State University Law Review as well as president of the FSU College of Law Moot Court Team. In addition to his leadership position on the team, Ian competed in three competitions on behalf of the Moot Court team, including competing in the Final Four competition before the entire Florida Supreme Court and claiming first place in the 38th Annual J. Braxton Craven, Jr. Memorial Moot Court Competition hosted by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. During law school, Ian also completed an externship with Judge L. Clayton Roberts of the First District Court of Appeal and served as a law clerk for a boutique appellate law firm.
We would like to welcome Kelly Gillis back to the firm as an Associate in our Coverage & Bad Faith Department. Her practice focuses on complex insurance coverage and bad faith, and she also assists insurers with claim evaluation and pre-suit claim resolution. Kelly previously worked as an Associate at Boyd & Jenerette from October 2013 to January 2018, but took some time away from private practice while her husband, a pilot in the U.S. Navy, served overseas. While her husband was overseas, Kelly held down the home front by taking care of their now three-year-old daughter, Reagan, and she welcomed their now seven-month-old son, Bennett.
She also stayed busy by clerking for the Honorable Vincent G. Torpy, Jr. at the Fifth District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach. She clerked for him following law school and he asked her to return leading up to his retirement. Now that Judge Torpy has retired and her husband has returned home, Kelly and her family have returned to the Jacksonville area.
Kelly Kay is an associate attorney at Boyd & Jenerette, P.A. practicing in the Jacksonville office. Ms. Kay’s practice focuses on defending employers and insurance carriers in state workers’ compensation and federal longshore claims.
