Attorney Spotlight: Jennifer L. Meier

Meet Jennifer L. Meier, our featured attorney in this month's attorney spotlight. With a dedicated focus on auto liability defense, insurance defense, and general litigation, Jennifer brings a wealth of experience and passion to her practice.

In this attorney spotlight article, we will delve into Jennifer's exceptional background, extensive experience, and unique work approach, exploring the remarkable qualities that set her apart from her peers within the legal profession.

Can you tell us about your background and how you made the decision to go to law school?

  • I grew up in Jacksonville and when I left for the University of Central Florida, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I changed majors 5 times or so before ultimately deciding to take a break from school to figure it all out. During that break, I had a few different jobs, including working as an insurance agent. In 2014, I went through a situation within my family that prompted me to look into law school and I really just decided to go for it!

What is your role as an attorney at Boyd & Jenerette?

  • I am an associate on the litigation team. We typically deal with car accidents, but we also work on cases involving claims of negligent supervision, negligent security, and slip & falls.

What is your day-to-day job like, and what kinds of long-term projects are on your plate?

  • My day-to-day is never the same, which I really like. I’m usually either taking a deposition, attending mediation, working on an evaluation for a client, or researching a new issue.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

  • I would say when new issues arise that I haven’t previously dealt with, I get a bit anxious. However, that is true for most people facing something unknown and I try to remember that I am not expected to know everything at this point in my career.

What do you enjoy most about practicing law at Boyd & Jenerette?

  • I really enjoy the work and appreciate that it doesn’t completely take over my personal life. I am married and have two small kids, so it’s important to me to work somewhere that allows me to have a good work/life balance.

When did you begin practicing law?

  • I began practicing in 2019 after passing the July bar exam.

What do you do for fun?

  • I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy doing Pilates, going to concerts & football games, or spending the day by the pool.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

  • I truly went through so many different phases! At one point, I planned on becoming an Anesthesiologist. I also explored teaching, which I believe that I would have enjoyed. However, I think that I am exactly where I was meant to be.

Who has been your biggest mentor?

  • My mom has been the biggest mentor and influence in my life. She has always taught me to be a good person and how to treat others. Over the past few years at Boyd & Jenerette however, I have had the privilege of learning from Bobby Schrader and he has become an incredible mentor to me.

If you could tell a younger version of yourself something knowing what you know now, what would it be?

  • I would tell my younger self to believe in myself and to go for it, no matter how crazy it seems.
