Meet Jordan L. Parker, a senior associate attorney based in Sarasota, Florida, who has made a name for herself in the legal field. Can you tell us about your background and how you made the decision to go to law school?

  • I was born and raised in Northern Michigan and have five siblings.  Growing up I enjoyed playing soccer, running, snowboarding, and any activity on the water.I have wanted to be a lawyer since middle school, so the decision to go to law school was an easy one.  I attended Michigan State University and majored in Political Science Pre-Law and Criminal Justice.  After graduating from MSU, I took a year off to work at a group home for teenage girls and apply to/prepare for law schools.I attended Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida and began my career as an attorney with the Guardian Ad Litem Program.  I enjoyed advocating for the best interest of children in juvenile dependency matters, but I knew I wanted to broaden my practice and began working for an insurance defense firm in Tampa in 2015.

What is your role as an attorney at Boyd & Jenerette?

  • I am a Senior Associate with Boyd & Jenerette and primarily focus on first and third-party automobile liability defense, insurance coverage disputes, and property damage claims.

What is your day-to-day job like, and what kinds of long-term projects are on your plate?

  • My day-to-day job includes reviewing and responding to pleadings and discovery, and evaluating cases, developing defense strategies and reporting to the clients.

What do you enjoy most about practicing law at Boyd & Jenerette?

  • The ability to meet my professional goals while also working from home.

When did you begin practicing law?

  • I began practicing in April 2011.

What do you do for fun?

  • Boat, fish and spend time on the water with my friends and family.

When did you decide you wanted to be a lawyer?

  • I have wanted to be a lawyer since middle school.

What is an item on your bucket list?

  • Shark diving in South Africa.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

  • I wanted to be a lawyer.

Do you have any hidden talents, hobbies, or a fun fact?

  • Fun fact: I have been skydiving.

What are you most proud of, professionally and/or personally?

  • I am proud that I was able to put myself through college and law school, but I am most proud of my son. He is the greatest thing in the world.

Who has been your biggest mentor?

  • My biggest mentors at Boyd & Jenerette are Amanda Kidd and Kristen Van der Linde.

If you could tell a younger version of yourself something knowing what you know now, what would it be?

  • It will all work out.

What are your goals for the next year?

  • Continue to develop strong working relationships with our clients, build my case load, and become partner.

About Jordan L. Parker
