May 8, 2023 by boydjenerette on News
Boyd & Jenerette Associate, Brooke A. DiSalvo, had the incredible opportunity to present at the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Council of Affiliates. Along with Mikaela Ziko, Brooke addressed young lawyers across the state about preventing burnout in the legal profession.
One of the tips they shared was a simple but powerful mindset shift: changing "have to" into "get to." By adopting a positive and proactive attitude, we can approach our work with more enthusiasm and fulfillment. As Brooke and Mikaela pointed out, one would never hear Tiger Woods complain that he "has to golf tomorrow." Instead, he approaches each day with excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to do what he loves.
This same mentality can be applied to practicing law and making a difference for clients every day. By embracing the "get to" mentality, we can remind ourselves of the privilege and responsibility that comes with being a lawyer. It's not just a job, but a chance to make a real difference in people's lives and in our society.
Brooke's presentation was a valuable reminder to all young lawyers to prioritize their well-being and take steps to prevent burnout. By changing our mindset and adopting a more positive and grateful attitude, we can find greater satisfaction and success in our legal careers.
