Boyd & Jenerette Announces May 19 Claims College in St. Petersburg, FL

Florida insurance adjusters and insurance claims professionals are invited to attend the “Claims College” being sponsored by the law firm Boyd & Jenerette, P.A. on Thursday, May 19 at the Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park.
“The Boyd & Jenerette Claims College is designed to help claims managers and insurance adjusters understand emerging legal issues, recent court decisions, and the growing use of social media,” said conference organizer Jane Anderson, a shareholder and practice group leader. “This intensive one-day claims seminar reflects the firm’s commitment to help insurance carriers and their insureds manage risk and reduce exposure through training,” adds shareholder Ben Samuels.
The conference features eight educational sessions, as listed below.
- Ethical Traps for Adjusters
- Tricky Legal Issues, including Proposals for Settlement, Statutory Caps, Setoffs and Write Downs
- Motions to Dismiss for Fraud
- Hot Topics in Bad Faith
- Responding to Time Demands, including Affidavits, Releases, and Contributions from Insureds
- Technology in Litigation
- Florida Construction Defect Litigation
- Insurance and Construction Litigation
The construction-related topics reflect separate afternoon break-out sessions for adjusters and insurance claims professionals who focus on construction defects and construction litigation claims
All sessions will be taught by attorneys from Boyd & Jenerette. Conference speakers include Andrew Abramovich, Jane Anderson, Thomas Berger, Michael Childers, Randy Dow, Elizabeth Ferguson, Kansas Gooden, Robert E. (“Bobby”) Schrader III, Kristie Schrader, Peter Sledzik, Billie Jo Taylor, and Kristen Van der Linde.
Attendees will earn six Continuing Education (CE) credits, one for each hour of class. One of the six classes is eligible for one ethics CE credit. All CE credits are consistent with Florida Division of Insurance requirements. The first session will begin at 9:00 a.m., with breakfast available for attendees from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The conference will close at 4:00 p.m.
