Boyd & Jenerette congratulates associate Kimberly Woods for being selected as an Academy Fellow for Class VIII of The Florida Bar Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy. Her term covers the 2020-2021 membership year.
The Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy is a multi-session training program designed to help a diverse and inclusive group of lawyers become better leaders. Each year a select group of participants are selected from applications submitted to The Florida Bar to become Academy Fellows.
During their one-year term, Academy Fellows follow a curriculum tailored to enhance their professional development, knowledge base and experience, including attending The Florida Bar events and special educational programs. Academy Fellows are given the opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of the Bar and their role in the legal profession, while enhancing their personal leadership skills.
The goals of the Academy include:
- To enhance leadership skills of a diverse and inclusive group of lawyers
- To identify, nurture and inspire effective leadership within the Bar and the legal community
- To enhance the diversity of leaders within the Bar
- To build relationships among Bar leaders across disciplines within the profession
- To raise the level of awareness and engagement among lawyers regarding issues facing the legal profession through the study of ethical, professional and public service issues

About Kimberly Woods:
Kimberly Woods is an associate in the firm’s Jacksonville office. She practices auto liability defense, insurance defense and general litigation.
Mrs. Woods has been a member of The Florida Bar since 2015 and Jacksonville Bar Association (JBA) since 2016. She currently serves as the Director of Communications for Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association.
She served as the chair for JBA’s Senior Holiday Project in 2017 and 2018, as well as heading the Law Week Naturalization Ceremony in 2017. She has served as a pro-bono attorney for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid since becoming a member of the Bar.
During her time in law school, Mrs. Woods was awarded Best Civil Defense Team, Best Cross Examination, and Best Advocate in her Trial Practice class and participated in the 2014 Jessup International Moot Court Competition.
Originally from Oakland, CA, she received her B.A. from California State University, Sacramento in 2009 and her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2014.
